Washington Nationals TV analyst Charles Ray Knight arrested for assault and battery in Alexandria
ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Former Major League Baseball player, manager and current TV analyst Charles Ray Knight has been arrested after a physical altercation at his home in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County, according to officials.
Fairfax County police said they responded to Knight's home in the 7500 block of Ashby Lane at about 4 a.m. on Sunday after he was reportedly involved in a fight with a 33-year-old man.
Authorities said Knight, 64, and the man, who they said is an acquaintance, both had visible injuries. Both men were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Knight was charged with assault and battery, according to police. He was released from jail and scheduled to be in court on Jan. 8.
"I just don't want to comment. I just think that the process will take its place and I just know that anything that I say is not going to matter until the process works itself out," Knight told FOX 5 when we went to his home for comment.
Knight played in the MLB from 1974 till 1988 for the Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, New York Mets, Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers.
He later managed the Reds before becoming an analyst. He is a broadcaster for "Nats Xtra" on the Mid-Atlantic Sports Network.
FOX 5 has reached out to the MASN for comment and have not heard back yet.
