Volunteer sports trainer at Gwynn Park High School arrested for sending nude picture to student
BRANDYWINE, Md. - A sports trainer at Gwynn Park High School in Prince George's County has been arrested after police say he sent a nude picture of himself to a female student.
Investigators say 26-year-old Carl Joseph, of Baltimore, texted the nude photo to the victim earlier this month. A student who was aware of the picture notified a teacher on Nov. 15 and investigators learned about the incident from Prince George's County school security officials, according to police.
Police arrested Joseph on Monday after he turned himself in. He is charged with solicitation of a minor and displaying obscene nude pictures.
"A teacher was notified. A student saw something that didn't seem appropriate. They brought it to the attention of an adult and now that person is under arrest," said Prince George's County Police Cpl. Harry Bond. "So everything worked out the way it was supposed to. We just want our children to be vigilant, their parents to be vigilant."
School officials say Joseph worked with the basketball teams at Gwynn Park as a volunteer since Sept. 2017 and was not an employee for Prince George's County Public Schools. He has been banned from volunteering in the school system.
Police say there is no evidence Joseph had a physical relationship with the student.
