Virginia NAACP defends Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax after 2nd sexual assault allegations
RICHMOND, Va. (FOX 5 DC) - The Virginia NAACP is defending Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax after a second woman came forward with allegations of sexual assault.
In a statement to FOX 5's Tisha Lewis, Virginia NAACP Executive Committee Member Phillip Thompson wrote, "Imagine my horror when I heard that different Democratic groups and individual Democrats were calling for Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax's resignation based on allegations of sexual assault. The clear facts are that Mr. Fairfax states that the allegations are false. These allegations have not been substantiated in any way."

A second woman, Meredith Watson, emerged Friday saying Fairfax raped her.
An attorney for Watson released two statements Friday claiming Fairfax attacked her in 2000 while they were students at Duke University.
Watson claims she confided in Fairfax about a previous rape and when she asked him, "Why did you do it?" Fairfax allegedly answered, "I knew that because of what happened to you.... you'd be too afraid to say anything."
Watson's accusation follows allegations by Dr. Vanessa Tyson earlier this week that Fairfax held her head down and forced her to perform a sex act in his hotel room at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.

Despite the allegations, Thompson wrote, "Fairfax has not been provided any type of due process in responding to these allegations. Some of these Virginia Democrats are now threatening Articles of Impeachment against Lieutenant Governor Fairfax if he does not immediately resign. Regardless of the claims, Lieutenant Governor Fairfax won a Statewide election where millions of Virginians voted for him."
Arlington County Delegate Patrick Hope says on Monday he will introduce articles recommending Fairfax's impeachment if Fairfax does not resign this weekend.
