Sources: Hidden camera in principal's office was property of Prince George's County Public Schools

PALMER PARK, Md. - A hidden camera found in a principal's office in a Prince George's County school was the property of the district, sources told FOX 5.

According to sources, the camera belonged to Prince George's County Public Schools and was placed in a principal's office.

District officials would only say the camera was found in an administrative office at a school Monday morning, but would not specify what school or whose office. Prince George's County police were investigating who put the camera in the office and why.

Police believe the camera could be accessed remotely and was there for several months. Investigators are now completing a forensic analysis of the device to determine what may have been recorded.

"I want someone held accountable for this," Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker said. "One of the first things we did in my office was to make sure that no one had put an illegal camera in there because we had heard rumors."

Prince George's County Police Chief Hank Stawinski emphasized Monday evening that it was unlikely the camera was there to film children. Stawinski said he believed the device was being used to gather information.
