Sheriff's office: Md. corrections officer handcuffed, shackled, repeatedly stabbed wife in home

A Maryland corrections officer has been charged with the attempted murder of his wife after she was found stabbed multiple times inside a home in Charles County.

According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, officers responded to 911 call from a man reporting a stabbing at a single-family home in the 2500 block of Archway Lane in Bryans Road last Friday at around 1:57 p.m.

When the officers arrived at the house, officials say they found 45-year-old Armando Quispe Rodriguez with lacerations to his hands and his wife suffering from several stab wounds in the basement. They were each flown to different hospitals with serious injuries.

During their investigation, detectives determined that Rodriguez attacked his wife while she was sleeping. In addition, he handcuffed her, bound her ankles in shackles and stabbed her repeatedly over several hours. Afterwards, he called 911 and told authorities that he and his wife were both stabbed.

Rodriguez was arrested Monday after he was released from the hospital. He has been charged with attempted murder, first-degree assault, false imprisonment and other related charges.

The suspect's wife remains in serious condition.

Rodriguez is a corrections officer with the Prince George's County Department of Corrections. He was placed on leave without pay, officials say.
