Police searching for Laurel hotel rape suspect
LAUREL, Md. - A manhunt is underway for a suspected rapist in Maryland.
Laurel police are searching for 52-year-old Donnell Wesley Boyd after they say he violently raped a woman at the Hampton Inn Laurel hotel in the 7900 Block of Braygreen Road on Saturday.
Police would not say if Boyd knew the victim. However, police believe this was a strictly isolated incident.
Boyd was last known to be driving a white pickup truck and is believed to be armed with a handgun, according to officials.
Police have released a wanted poster and are asking for the public's help to help locate Boyd.
"It's extremely important because when we are looking for somebody like this, we like to have as many eyes out there as possible to help us find them," said Laurel Police Det. Ashley Swidarski.
Based on tips, police also believe Boyd is still in the area.
Laurel police is working with the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office to try to apprehend him as quickly as possible.
Boyd is described as 5-feet-10 inches tall and weighs 240 pounds.
Anyone with information about Boyd's whereabouts is asked to contact the Laurel Police Department at 301-498-0092. You can also leave anonymous tips at LPDTips@laurel.md.us
