Police investigate possible abduction after woman missing from Virginia Beach

Authorities in Virginia are searching for a woman who they believe may have been abducted.

Police say 39-year-old Bellamy Malaki Gamboa was last seen on July 1 around 8:24 p.m. in the 2100 block of Carrene Drive in the Virginia Beach area.

Bellamy is 5-feet-1-inch tall and weighs approximately 135 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.

Investigators say that due to the uncharacteristic behavior of Bellamy being away from her infant children and not showing up to work her disappearance is considered suspicious.

Officers say they recovered Bellamy's 2005 Gold 4-door Ford Focus was on July 3 parked next to a dumpster in the 5800 block of Pickering Street.

Virginia State Police say Gamboa has a tattoo of a band of roses on her right arm and 'BELLAMY' tattooed on her right ankle.

Gamboa's disappearance is only the second time Virginia State Police have activated a critically missing adult alert. The law calling for such action went into effect July 1 and is named for Ashanti Billie, the Prince George's County native who disappeared from Virginia Beach and was later found dead in North Carolina. Last month, the suspect in Billie's murder was diagnosed with schizophrenia and found incompetent to stand trial.

Anyone with information regarding Bellamy's disappearance is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP (1-888-562-5887).
