Police: 1-year-old DC boy died from multiple blunt force injuries; death ruled homicide
WASHINGTON - The death of a 1-year-old boy in Southeast D.C. has been ruled a homicide, police say.
Officers along with D.C. Fire and EMS personnel responded to the 4700 block of Benning Road at around 7 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of an unconscious child. When they arrived, they found Carter Sanders inside a residence unresponsive at the scene, according to police.
The young boy was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy performed by the medical examiner's office found the cause of death for the toddler was due to multiple blunt force injuries, officials say.
