Park Police officers who shot and killed Bijan Ghaisar identified in court documents

New court documents have revealed the names of two U.S. Park Police officers who shot and killed Bijan Ghaisar in November 2017.

A court filing in a federal lawsuit identifies the officers as Alejandro Amaya and Lucas Vinyard.

Park Police have declined to identify them since the incident in which Ghaisar was killed.

Ghaisar was shot after a police chase into the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County.

Police say he was a suspect in a hit-and-run crash near the George Washington Parkway in Alexandria.

A police report indicated that Ghaisar was unarmed when he was shot multiple times by the officers.

The Park Police have never explained why Ghaisar was killed.
