Mother of missing Hoggle children indicted on murder charges

WASHINGTON - The mother of two Montgomery County children who went missing three years ago has been indicted for their murders, according to a source.

Catherine Hoggle is believed to be the last person to have seen her 2-year-old son, Jacob, and 4-year-old daughter, Sarah, before they disappeared on Sept. 7, 2014.

Authorities said Hoggle, who has been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, has refused to disclose where the children are and has been held in a mental facility. She has previously been ruled not competent to stand trial by a judge.

With the indictment, Hoggle has been moved from the mental facility to a jail and is facing two counts of murder.

Hoggle's attorney, David Felsen, told FOX 5 Thursday night that he has not been made aware of these new charges, but is waiting to see what happens in court on Friday. Felsen has filed for dismissal of the previous charges related to this case and a hearing had been scheduled for Friday morning on this matter.

Hoggle's mother told FOX 5's Lauren DeMarco that she had not been made aware of the murder charges as well. However, she said would not be surprised by this new development saying, "They had to charge her with something."

Hoggle is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon on a bench warrant.
