Montgomery Co. Police investigating video that shows officer slamming man's head into sidewalk

SILVER SPRING, Md. (FOX 5 DC) -- An investigation is underway in Montgomery County regarding the use of force during an arrest by police officers at a Silver Spring shopping center.

In a cellphone video that has been widely shared on social media, an officer is seen restraining a man on the ground. The officer then is seen kneeing the man in the head and slamming his head into the sidewalk. You can see that the suspect's mouth is bloody in the video.

Police say the event occurred in the Aspen Hill Shopping Center and the officers involved have been identified.

According to police, they are "in the process of gathering all available information regarding the facts and circumstances of this event."
