Metro worker fatally stabs man who attacked her over train delays, DC police say

WASHINGTON - Police say a Metro worker stabbed a man who allegedly attacked her after becoming upset over train delays.

The incident was reported just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Friendship Heights Metro station in Northwest D.C.

According to investigators, 28-year-old Jeremy Bond, of Rockville, Maryland, entered the Metro station manager's booth after pounding on the windows. He struck the female Metro employee in the arm after becoming angry that his train was delayed.

During the altercation, she stabbed Bond in the chest with a pocket knife. The worker was "in fear of their life and acting in the defense of their self," police say.

Bond was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officials say detectives from D.C. police's Homicide Branch are investigating the incident to determine if the Metro employee has a viable self-defense claim.

The Western Avenue entrance to the transit station was closed for several hours after the incident.
