Man in critical condition, rescued by off-duty DC Fire staff following I-495 crash in Pr George's Co

One person has been taken to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries after their car went off the roadway of I-495 on Sunday.

Prince George's County fire says a car went off the road on the inner loop of the Capitol Beltway at Branch Avenue and into an area of water, off of the ramp.

Off-duty DC Fire and EMS firefighters saw the incident and went into the water to get the man out.

First responders administered CPR, but officials say they are not sure if the man's condition was related to a medical emergency or drowning and trauma from the crash.
