Makiyah Wilson's uncle completes walk from DC to Philadelphia in her honor
WASHINGTON - A nearly 200 mile walk to honor the life of Makiyah Wilson, the young D.C. girl who was killed in July when gunmen opened fire in her neighborhood, has been carried out by her uncle.
Mike D'Angelo began the walk at the spot in the District on 53rd Street where Makiyah was shot and killed. He ended at the Department of Justice in downtown Philadelphia in honor of someone close to him who was killed in the Pennsylvania city just days before Makiyah lost her life.

D'Angelo called the experience a "beautiful journey" to call attention to Makiyah's murder. "The key-holders of our future are getting murdered before our eyes and killed in the street like dogs," D'Angelo and said he hopes his walk calls attention to these issues.
Police say there has been significant progress in Wilson's murder investigation and have identified multiple persons of interest and executed search warrants connected to the case.
Officials say police fanned out in force last week and searched seven apartments on two different streets in Southeast D.C. According to three law enforcement sources, some people were taken into custody and questioned, but there were no arrests.
