DC-metro area to host 1st Black Restaurant Week

WASHINGTON - Organizers are planning to highlight the contributions of black-owned restaurants in the area's culinary scene by hosting the first-ever DMV Black Restaurant Week.

The DMV Black Restaurant Week looks to put a spotlight on the work of black-owned restaurants and bars in the DC, Maryland and Virginia area.

Organizers said the event, which is scheduled to be held from Nov. 4 to Nov. 11, will recognize the great work of black restaurant owners, managers, chefs and caterers, and give them the opportunity to network and discuss entrepreneurial ventures, as well as continuing education.

The week's events will include daily happy hours, Ward pop-ups, bartender competitions, conferences and panels, food trucks, an after party and awards brunch.
