DC Restaurant Week extending for first time in 18 year history

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - If you weren't able to make it to the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington's Restaurant Week last week, you're in luck -- the event was just extended for the first time ever.

Almost 200 restaurants have agreed to continue their prix fixe menus through Jan. 27.

Citing the government shutdown as a contributor factor, RAMW says they began considering the extension when restaurants began reporting an average 20 percent decrease in business compared to this time last year.

Some area restaurant managers have been reporting decreases as high as 60 percent.

This will be the first time in 18 years that the event has been extended.

RAMW says prices will remain the same, with lunch set at $22 and dinner staying at $35.

The biannual event started after 9/11 to support the local economy -- and RAMW says they are looking for the extension to do the same.
