DC mom inspiring students 1 bathroom stall at a time
WASHINGTON - For some students, heading back to school can be exciting, and for others, it can be downright daunting.
No matter how a child feels, Cierra Lynn, an artist and mother from DC, wants to empower and inspire them, one bathroom stall at a time.
Lynn is transforming school bathrooms into bright and positive spaces for children by painting beautiful artwork with inspiring messages on the stalls.
The hand-painted stalls are part of her beautification project and have already been completed at Charles Hart Middle School, Imagine Hope Community Charter School's Tolson campus and Eagle Academy Public Charter School.
Lynn said through her experiences, she noticed a lack of appreciation for a school's bathroom space as students write vulgar language on bathroom stalls, which creates an unwelcoming environment.
She hopes that her artwork creates increased self-esteem, self-respect and a more inviting space for students.
In the video player above, Lynn chats with FOX 5's Anjali Hemphill about her work and project.
