Court Docs: Suspected Capital Gazette gunman tried to hide under desk after shooting

Charging documents released on Friday say that the man suspected in the deadly shooting at the Capital Gazette newspaper in Annapolis tried to hide under a desk after the attack.

The court documents say that the suspect, identified as Jarrod W. Ramos, used a long gun firearm to shoot out the business doors.

He entered the office where he shot and killed the paper's assistant managing editor Rob Hiaasen; editorial page editor Gerald Fischman; features reporter Wendi Winters; reporter John McNamara, and sales assistant Rebecca Smith.

Anne Arundel County court documents then say Ramos "attempted to conceal himself under a desk until the police arrived."

Documents also say surveillance video was reviewed "positively identifying Mr. Ramos and the events that occurred within the business."
