Charles County 7-year-old girl struck by car after getting off school bus
CHARLES COUNTY, Md. - A 7-year-old girl in Charles County was struck by a vehicle after leaving a school bus on Tuesday, according to emergency personnel.
The Charles County Volunteer Fire and Emergency Medical Service Tweeted around 4:15 p.m. that they were responding to the scene on Oliver Shop Road.
Emergency officials said the child has been taken to Children's National Hospital with what they described as "priority 1" injuries.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office described the child's injuries as critical.
The Sheriff's Office says a 35-year-old woman driving a Ford F-250 struck the child.
They say the driver remained on the scene after the crash.
According to the Sheriff's Office, charges are pending.
A 53-year-old man who was at the scene was also taken to the hospital with what emergency officials described as a panic attack.
