Capitol Hill bar in DC offering $5 'shutdown cocktails'
WASHINGTON - A Capitol Hill bar located just blocks away from the U.S. Capitol is getting ready to help federal workers and Hill staffers get through a possible government shutdown.
Capitol Lounge on Pennsylvania Avenue is offering anyone with a federal employee ID to grab one of its "Shutdown Cocktail" for only $5 starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, one minute after the midnight deadline for Congress to avert a government shutdown.
The Washington D.C. bar, which posted its special menu on its Twitter and Facebook pages, is offering seven different cocktails that appear to be politically-inspired:
- To Flake or Not to Flake
- Rand's Neighborhood Affair
- C'mon Chuck
- Have You Ever Met A Haitian?
- Pornstar Punch
- Durbin Soda
- Affordable Beer Act
Even if Republicans and Democrats are able or unable to reach an agreement on legislation before the shutdown deadline, we are sure many can agree that these drink specials are a deal we can all support.
