Arlington woman safely located by police
ARLINGTON, Va. - UPDATE | 11/13/17: Arlington County Police Officers have safely located Kate Hawald.
An Arlington woman went missing three days ago. On Sunday family, friends and the community came together to canvass area neighborhoods in hopes of finding information about her whereabouts.
The search started Sunday morning and continued through the afternoon. Twenty-eight-year-old Kate Hawald is considered a critical missing person.
Authorities say she has a medical condition that requires treatment that she's been without since she vanished from her home on Thursday.
"So what we're doing. This is Saint Agnes. this is where Katherine called home for eight years," says Michael Hawald, Katherine's Brother.
Hawald's brother, their father, and Arlington County police were joined by dozens ready to canvass what they described as Hawald's hot spots.
"Recently she decided to go get some coffee and we're worried," says her brother.
The five-foot-two brunette with blue eyes was reportedly spotted Saturday at a nearby Starbucks near Lee Highway and Sprout Run. It's where volunteers congregated hoping to generate leads.
"She just had such a bubbly personality and would do anything for anyone," says friend Eileen Egan.
"It's really scary that she's just disappeared. I really hope we find her," says family friend, Amanda.
FOX 5 is told Hawald recently returned home and there were no red flags.
"She's single, she was attending Virginia Tech grad school, until she got sick, she came back home to Arlington and we've been caring for her," says her brother.
They never imagined this. Now, police are combing through area surveillance cameras to see if tips about Kate Hawald's whereabouts lead to more.
