Man dead, 6 others including children injured, in Glen Burnie house fire

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (FOX 5 DC) - A man was killed and six others, including a 5-year-old and a 3-year-old, suffered injuries during a house fire in Anne Arundel County.

The fire was reported on Wellham Avenue in the Glen Burnie area around midnight.

Firefighters say when they first got to the burning home they found smoke coming from the basement.

A woman and a 5-year-old boy were removed from the base of the house. The boy was transported to the John Hopkins Hospital with life threatening injuries. The woman is at the John Hopkins Bayview Hospital also with critical, life threatening injuries.

A man, two women and a 3-year-old girl evacuated before the arrival of firefighters and were also transported with minor injuries.

Investigators do not know what caused the fire.
