2 Pitbull puppies stolen from woman at gunpoint, DC police looking to identify suspect

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - D.C. police say they are asking for help from the public to identify a suspect who stole two Pitbull puppies from a woman at gunpoint on Sunday in broad daylight in Southeast.

Police say just after noon on Sunday, the woman said she was walking her puppies in the 5100 block of Southern Avenue, Southeast when she was approached by a suspect.

Investigators say the suspect came toward her, brandished a handgun and demanded the puppies.

The victim complied, police say, and suspect took off with the victim's two 2-month-old male Pitbull puppies. The suspect reportedly fled towards the 4500 block of Heath Street in Capitol Heights, Md.

One of the two stolen puppies was wearing a black collar. The other puppy was wearing a blue collar.

Police say say the suspect is described as a man 20-30 years of age, 5-feet, 5-inches tall, weights 130-135 pounds, with a dark complexion, skinny build, and short hair.

Police say he was last seen wearing a black puffy coat, black knit cap, and black sweatpants. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

D.C. police say they are offering a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a violent crime committed in the District of Columbia.
