2-alarm fire rips through Fairfax County home

A two-alarm fire ripped through a Fairfax County home as firefighters dealt with powerful wind gusts on Friday.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue said they responded to a fire at a house in the 7800 block of Cherry Orchard Court before 3:40 p.m.

According to officials, heavy smoke and flames were visible. Officials tweeted at about 4:45 p.m. that firefighters had managed to put the blaze out. Fire officials said two adults were inside in the home and escaped without injury. Three pets were inside the home and have not been located at this time, according to the fire department.

Emergency crews have been busy on Friday as a nor'easter pummels the D.C. region with wind gusts topping 60 mph.
