Golden State Warriors to visit African American History Museum after disinvited from White House
Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors said that the team plans on taking children on a trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture while visiting Washington D.C.
Thompson revealed the plans in an interview with reporters after a game with the New York Knicks. Thompson said that the White House visit would have been an honor but other circumstances made the team uncomfortable making the trip.
"We're not going to politicize anything," Thompson said. "We're just going to go hang out with some kids and take them to the African American museum and hopefully teach them things we learned along the way - life lessons - and just hope we give them some great memories."
President Donald Trump disinvited the team from the customary championship visit to the White House after several players debated on whether they would go or not.
