Fireworks cause chaos inside Union Station
WASHINGTON - Law enforcement officials say fireworks went off inside Union Station Sunday evening, causing
passengers to fear they were hearing gunshots and run for the exits. Kevin Donahue, DC's deputy mayor
for public safety, tweeted fireworks were set off inside the station and that despite fears, there was no
active shooter or shooting.Witnesses tell FOX 5 just before 5 p.m. they heard loud pops, which led to a
stampede toward the exits. DC Fire and EMS says it treated three people on scene, including one person
with a panic attack and one undergoing an asthma attack. No other injuries were reported. Amtrak Police
said they were investigating the situation, but did not say if anyone had been arrested.
