'Mother of All Rallies,' 'Juggalo March,' cancer race to take place in DC over weekend
WASHINGTON - Local authorities are preparing in advance for several events planned for this weekend.
The Mother of All Rallies, The Juggalo March on Washington, and the 37th Annual Race to Beat Cancer all take place in the District in and around the National Mall on Saturday.
Described as a pro-Trump unification rally, The Mother of All Rallies, plans to begin gathering around 11 a.m. on the Mall.
"No confederate flags, communist flags, or foreign flags allowed this is not a democrat or republican rally. It's not a left or right rally. We condemn racists of all colors and supremacy of all colors. Our patriots are of all colors and we are uniting under our constitutional rights. We are Americans and our color shouldn't matter," reads part of a statement found on the event's website.
The Juggalo March on Washington begins at 2 p.m. in front of the Lincoln Memorial and is a gathering of fans of the music group Insane Clown Posse. On the website, the organizers say the march is to "make a collective statement from the Juggalo Family to the world about what we are and what we are not."
"Recently Psychopathic Records' court case in our lawsuit against the F.B.I. and Department of Justice for listing Juggalos as a "loosely organized hybrid gang" in their 2011 Gang Task Force report was once again dismissed, meaning we are back to square one from a legal standpoint. We have tried to use the American judicial system to achieve justice and we failed," the statement continues.
Also on Saturday, the Race To Beat Cancer 5K will take begin and end in the Northwest and will pass close to the National Mall. The event benefits cancer research celebrates survivors, and honors those who have lost their battles with cancer.
The following streets will be closed from 6:00 am to approximately 11:00 pm:
Constitution Avenue NW from 18th Street NW to Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
- C Street NW, from 18th Street to 17th Street NW.
- D Street NW, from 18th Street to 17th Street NW.
- E Street NW, from 18th Street to 17th Street NW.
- 17th Street NW, from New York Avenue, NW, to Independence Avenue, NW.
- 15th Street NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Independence Avenue, SW.
- 14th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW to Independence Avenue, SW.
- 12th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania NW, to Constitution Avenue, NW.
- 10th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Constitution Avenue, NW.
- 9th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Constitution Avenue, NW.
- 7th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Independence Avenue, SW.
- 6th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Constitution Avenue, NW.
- 4th Street, NW, from Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, to Independence Avenue, SW.
- Madison Drive NW from 15th Street NW to 3rd Street NW.
- Jefferson Drive SW from 15th Street SW to 3rd Street SW.
-The 9th Street and 12th Street tunnels will be closed from 6:00 am, until approximately 11:00 pm.
-The 3rd Street tunnel will remain open.
